A recent survey has found that girls between the ages of 15 and 19 who have been vaccinated against the human papillomavirus (HPV) are no more likely to engage in riskier sexual behavior than those girls who were not vaccinated.
The report published in the January issue of The American Journal of Preventive Medicine also found that girls who were sexually active and who had been vaccinated were more likely to use a condom than those who were not vaccinated. [
Researchers have found DNA testing for human papillomavirus (HPV) picks up precancerous lesions earlier and prevents more cervical cancer than standard cytology screening alone.
In a large randomized trial, patients who had HPV DNA testing plus regular cytology had more low-grade cervical intraepithelial neoplasias than those who only had cytology testing, but at follow-up screening five years later, they had fewer high-grade lesions and cervical cancers.
50 Million cases of genital herpes in the United States alone.
Fact 1: Herpes CAN be contagious at any time
Fact 2: As many as 90% of those with herpes may be unaware they have it
Fact 3: Herpes is not just spread through sex
Fact 4: Condoms do not protect from a herpes infection
Fact 5: Doctors do NOT test for herpes even when you request a complete STD screen. You MUST ask for it specifically
Fact 6: A blood test is the best test for herpes. Unless there is active viral fluids that can be swabbed for testing, the result could render a false-negative
Fact 7: Herpes CAN be passed to an infant during the birthing process. Healthy babies CAN be delivered via C-Section
Fact 8: A herpes infection passed to a newborn CAN be fatal. They do not possess the immune system nor antibodies needed to fight the virus
Fact 9: Herpes does INCREASE your risk of contracting HIV
Fact 10: You can have herpes without any symptoms whatsoever
The only fact in this video I have a problem with is #1 where she states herpes is contagious all of the time. NO it is NOT! It CAN become contagious at any time, but a person with herpes is NOT contagious 24/7.
